Overview

Velvet Hours make slow, patient films and wanted a website that behaved the same way. The old site was a grid of trailers that autoplayed over one another. We started from the ritual of a cinema instead: the room darkens, the curtain holds for a beat, and only then does the title arrive.

Each film gets a full-screen still rendered in WebGL with a film-grain pass and a soft gate weave, so the frame never feels entirely static. Titles are set in a high-contrast serif and revealed letter by letter on scroll. Trailers load only on request, behind a velvet-red cursor that reads “Play”. The result is quieter, and people stay longer.
